Position: Lifting Specialist
Location: Ras Laffan, Qatar
Duration: 1-year contract, with possibility of extension
Role OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated Lifting Specialist to serve as the technical authority for lifting equipment within major projects. In this critical role, you will provide expert guidance, oversight, and technical support to ensure safe and efficient lifting operations. You will collaborate closely with project teams and maintenance units to ensure the proper functioning of all lifting equipment. Your responsibilities will encompass reviewing lifting plans, coordinating activities, and maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with major projects to develop, review, and refine Lifting Management System processes for flawless project execution.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all lifting and handling operations within major projects.
- Review and approve Critical Lifting Plans, actively participating in lifting operations as needed.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of cranes within major projects, reporting monthly on their certification status.
- Lead the inspection and validation of on-shore lifting equipment prior to deployment.
- Conduct audits and condition checks to ensure lifting equipment meets fitness-for-purpose criteria and complies with company standards and regulations.
Required Competencies:
- Demonstrated technical expertise and extensive field experience.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Preferred certifications: LEEA, OPITO, OSHA, or Hoisting Engineering license.
- Minimum of 15+ years of relevant experience, including a decade of senior engineering and field experience in lifting operations.
- In-depth knowledge of international standards such as API, ASME, BS, DNV, ISO, LOLER, NORSOK, and SOLAS.
- Proficiency in lifting studies, calculations, equipment inspection, and regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with various lifting equipment, including containers, winches, hoists, cranes, and slings.
