TRS are currently supporting a client in Doha, Qatar who require a Director of Information Technology to join their organisation.


The Director of Information Technology orchestrates and spearheads the execution of IT infrastructure, solutions, and services, guaranteeing that the business operations and strategic objectives of company are bolstered with suitable systems, solutions, services, and capabilities provided by vendors. This individual is at the forefront of devising and executing information security systems and processes, adhering to all relevant legal, regulatory, and other stipulations.


  • Formulate company Information Technology strategy and devise extensive IT plans for the long term.
  • Participate in the formulation of the Corporate Services strategy by suggesting IT-related objectives and initiatives.
  • Construct business plans for the Section that align with company overarching strategy.
  • Establish performance objectives for the Section.
  • Guarantee the propagation of Corporate Services Key Performance Indicators to subordinate staff.
  • Provide counsel to the Chief Corporate Services Officer on matters pertaining to IT that influence the execution of company strategy.
  • Formulate the budget for the Section.
  • Obtain and sustain knowledge of company financial management function and processes, such as accounts payable.
  • Gain and preserve comprehension of market prices, pricing strategies, and vendor pricing.
  • Propose measures to enhance cost efficiency in procured IT services.
  • Exhibit leadership throughout company in the assimilation of IT best practices, innovation, and technology adoption.
  • Act as the representative of the Section to the CCSO, other departments, and external entities; partake in committees as necessitated.
  • Articulate company’s mission, vision, and goals, and its role in accomplishing the Shareholders’ objectives, ensuring that subordinates, colleagues, and other parties comprehend them and their respective roles in facilitating their achievement.
  • Concur on objectives and KPIs with subordinates; allocate tasks, initiatives, and targets, delegating where suitable while maintaining responsibility for outcomes.
  • Ascertain that subordinates possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and other competencies required to fulfil tasks and attain objectives.
  • Offer technical direction, advice, guidance, and support for subordinates when necessary, engaging in dialogue and consultation to ensure that proposals, risks, issues, and requirements are elucidated.
  • Assess the performance of subordinates.
  • Ensure that subordinates have the opportunities, resources, and time required for professional development and actively support employee growth.
  • Engage in cross-functional project teams, as required.
  • Obtain and preserve proficiency in companies business, encompassing its structure, departmental roles and responsibilities, and operations, utilizing this knowledge in all decision-making processes.
  • Sustain expertise in the businesses of operators.
  • Guarantee that IT makes a successful contribution to companies business operations and the realization of its strategic objectives.
  • Cultivate and sustain proficiency in IT best practices and relevant standards, and advocate for their incorporation into the Section’s policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the formulation and execution of the Section’s internal policies, systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Administer changes to ensure minimal interruption to the delivery of services to stakeholders.
  • Ascertain personal and subordinates’ educational and developmental requirements and ensure they acquire the necessary training, experience, and learning to perform their roles effectively.
  • Recognize potential successors for Section positions and ensure they receive the necessary mentorship and development to assume new roles when needed.
  • Assign tasks to subordinates to aid in the enhancement of their competencies.
  • Actively lead nationalisation programmes and the development of Qatari nationals.
  • Ensure that subordinates fulfil their roles as mentors and coaches, where necessary.
  • Formulate and spearhead the execution of IT plans for infrastructure, systems, solutions, enterprise architecture, applications, and hardware.
  • Formulate and spearhead the execution of IT initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in KH’s operations.
  • Collaborate with End Users to gather business requirements for software, hardware, networks, and IT services.
  • Develop annual IT service plans based on evaluated demand, capacity, and usage levels.
  • Develop annual IT project plans.
  • Formulate and lead the execution of IT access plans and matrices.
  • Lead the delivery of IT services through the creation and deployment of an IT services catalogue.
  • Oversee the development and deployment of IT service SLAs with End User departments and sections.
  • Monitor service levels and service provision and address complaints/issues.
  • Manage incidents and their resolution.
  • Supervise the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of KH’s ERP system.
  • Supervise vendor selection, technical and functional requirement review, and program management of ERP implementation.
  • Lead the procurement and hiring of IT service providers for specialized services.
  • Approve contractual terms and SLAs with service providers.
  • Monitor service provider performance and recommend renewal or replacement of service providers.
  • Ensure that change requests are reviewed, evaluated, and actioned appropriately.
  • Ensure that asset registers, SLAs, access matrices, and other controls are updated following changes.
  • Ensure that the configuration management database is updated following changes.
  • Ensure that information security requirements are defined and addressed in IT plans, projects, and services to protect KH’s information, data, digital assets, and systems.
  • Approve information security objectives, plans, and initiatives.
  • Implement information security procedures.
  • Monitor information security outcomes and initiate corrective action and changes to address gaps and issues.
  • Review and approve project risk registers, where required.
  • Contribute to the ERM risk register, when requested.
  • Develop/lead the development of the information security risk register, ensure that controls are implemented, and monitor risk register updates.
  • Plan and execute IT projects.
  • Receive, review, and challenge End User requests for changes/projects against business cases, KH strategy, IT strategy, and other relevant strategies and policies.
  • Lead project execution, ensuring that consultants and contractors comply with contractual terms and conditions.
  • Maintain expertise in applicable legal/regulatory requirements and ensure that IT policies, procedures, processes, and decisions reflect compliance requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of legal, regulatory, and other requirements applicable to data management, IT management, and information security management.


  • 10+ years of experience in IT/Information Technology
  • Must have experience in enterprise architecture and implementation
  • Must have experience in mid-large size organisations with service management exp.
  • Prior experience in a senior management or director role with 4+ years
  • Must be degree qualified
