The Copper Production Shift Leader is a professional in charge who will be providing direct supervision to all shift employees and ensuring everything runs smoothly during his shift.
This position requires the ability to work a 12-hour shift that rotates from days to nights including weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities
• Supervising all employees, conduct an informal meeting at the beginning of the shift to discuss shift production overall plan and to assign duties to specific employees based on role and skills.
• Monitoring team performance and ensuring duties are performed efficiently.
• Reporting any issues that arise during the shift to management.
• Ensure that the departmental reports are prepared as per management request, in a prompt and accurate
manner.
• Ensure that shift team members accurately and completely document their actions, events, plant statistics and
performance indices and that check-Sheets and log-sheets are used, and registers kept up to date.
• Prepare and submit a report at the end of every shift.
• Lead incident investigations and take ownership of incidents until the resulting actions are closed (HSE &
Operational).
• Ensure compliance with all occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations to protect personnel and
physical assets.
• Carry out internal audits periodically to ensure adherence to best practice.
• Directly supervise the activities of the shift team during complex or unusual situations.
• Coordinate operations and maintenance activities in specific areas of the plant and monitor the activities of
technical team that has or may have an influence on operation.
• Periodically rotating staff between positions and ensuring exchange of information and experience across the
shift.
• Analyze operational data and compare data with previous reports, follow-up on findings.
• Supervise Slag removal processes and proper segregation until disposal.
• Monitoring the offloading of Raw materials in designated / suitable areas.
• Conduct regular inspection rounds on Furnaces, Fume treatment plant, Launders, and follow-up on findings.
• Monitor lab results of each batch and taking prompt action if it’s not matching with set limits.
• Ensuring that major cleanings for all furnaces are done on time.
• Ensure good housekeeping all times.
• Liaise with management to take disciplinary action against negligent or hostile staff.
